From TVs and laptops to clothing and appliances, products are tossed out because it’s cheaper to trash them than restock, inspect, or resell. Investigations have uncovered warehouses where pallets of goods are sent straight to landfills or incinerators. In one UK facility alone, Amazon was found destroying over 130,000 items per week. The reason? Efficiency. In a system built for speed and scale, returns are a costly inconvenience.
Digital nomads are causing economic collapse in Portugal and Mexico, as American-paying remote workers outpace local wages. Lisbon rent increased by 40% in two years, while Mexican beach towns become unaffordable for natives.
